Everything you need to know about NICA

NICA is leading the charge for promoting inclusivity within mountain biking across the country, and we’re incredibly proud to be one of their partners. We traveled to the Battle at Big Bear race in West Virginia to learn more about how NICA operates and provide some killer race coverage for such a ground-breaking event. Follow along with Bike Gearheads Ian and Jess for interviews with the coaches and the student-athletes. We cover it all—from the different ways to get involved with NICA, to the ins and outs of practice, and finally the race itself at Big Bear, WV. The Utah High School Cycling League has seen exponential ridership growth since 2012. But, in 2019, female ridership only accounted for 20% of that growth. It's time for a change! Over the years, the League has implemented NICA's GRiT (Girls Riding Together) program to set a foundation of interest, friendship and community for Utah's female students in grades 7-12.
